Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Bass, blues and fluke!!

Continued strong Southerlies are keeping the inshore ocean temps closer the upper fifties leading to a favorable Summer striper bite. Light spinning tackle while employing artifiicials is our keys to success. Double digit bass numbers are the norm with some keepers thrown into the mix , rewarding both novice and veteran  bass anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea.

Big burly blues have also provided good to excellent action depending on tidal stage with some reaching over the 10lbs mark! Presently the most abundant size is ranging from 2-6lbs which provides fantastic action and when handled correctly [ bled and iced]  fine table fair .
Fluke have rounded out the catch with some keepers being scored but at a fair less frantic pace.
I have tomorrow evening July3rd  5pm-8pm or 5pm-9pm and July 4th 530am-1030am- for either private or open boat , we will be targeting both stripers and blues. All light tackle , hands on style fishing. No trolling!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Barnegat Bay/inlet fishing report 6/25/17

Although the leading edge of persistent strong SW winds are a welcoming trend to an already established warm and somewhat stagnant water temp to “reset” the bass bite [ which it did] . Prevailing SW is somewhat of a bane for our beloved summer time activities .

The accumulative effect of the Continued SW winds have thrown a salty , rusty wrench into the temped coastal inshore waters into the polar zone to the dismay of both beach goers and inshore fisherman alike. Incoming tidal temps have taken a tail spin way down into the lower 50f [ 53 lowest we have seen] .

Before the frigid up welling took hold bluefish and stripers responded like feeding puppies at meal time but the continued downward spiral mitigated the bite to stages  of warmer outgoing tide.
Strong Thunder storms have also reaffirmed my new location in near by Barnegat light to head for safe harbor when conditions look like “things are about to get interesting” with a quick ” Back to the action” opportunity when safer conditions are present.
With winds looking a little more light and variable things should start to re-stabilize as we progress through the next few tidal stages.

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Barnegat Bay and Inlet Fishing report

Barnegat Bay and Inlet continues to offer up solid light tackle action for anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea . Blues from 2-12lbs continue to provide the best rod bending drag screaming action with schoolie striped bass holding a close second to the savvy angler .

With strong SW winds that will surely cool inshore water temps down a bit an up tick in schoolie action is expected.  Fluke have also provided action with a heavy dose of short fish but some quality flatties have fell victims to the devoted bucktailers!

The closing of seabass on June 18th is a bit disappointing but will reopen on July 1st with a lower bag limit but still a welcoming visitor to the cooler and add a soon to reopen blackfish season and the “what’s for dinner” couldn’t be any more tastier!
Although we didn’t target or score any weakfish this week there has been a few that have been caught in the neighbor hood so scoring a coveted Barnegat Bay Grand Slam is well within reach!!
I have This Friday a.m and p.m. available for private or open boat and few Happy Hour specials 5-8pm this week [ perfect tidal situation]  for those looking jump aboard for a quick hit and run.
