Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Barnegat Bay/inlet/ocean report – Stripers, Bluefish, Albies……

Continued fantastic light tackle action for anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea!

Fat Alberts continue to entertain and amaze our anglers with not only their greased lightening speed but their powerful drag scorching runs whether employing light spinning tackle or flyrod!

The snag and drop action with quality striped bass in the mid thirty pound range has broke open along our beaches for our anglers willing to do a little recon .

Unders [ 24-27.9999] and 28″ and over have provided fair to excellent action closer to working our bays and inlet area while employing both live and artificial baits.

Bluefish from 5-12lbs round out the action on a regular basis as well!!

I have this Friday [Oct 27] afternoon 2pm-5pm or 3pm-6pm for open or private charters. We will be targeting all of the above.

Wishing everyone fair winds and calm seas,

Captain Steve Purul

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Who needs Montauk? Not anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea!!

World class light tackle action with high speed dragsters from the likes of torpedo shaped little tunny has been absolutely insane!! Presently the amount of false albies along our beaches has been nothing short of historic with tons of bird plays , bait pods and aerial free jumping tunny as far as the eye can see!!

These little tuna pulled drag faster and harder than any fish that swim our local inshore waters. Although well placed casts continue to up the anglers opportunities to capitalize with coming tight but once the techniques are squared away look out and hold on for some fast and furious fishing!!

Stripers and bluefish also continue to provide excellent oppurtunites all within the safe confines of our bay and inlet waters on a variety of live and artificial baits.

C’mon and jump aboard for some fantastic fall fishing!!

Wishing everyone fair winds and calm seas,

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Barnegat bay/inlet/ocean report

This week we found ourselves battling through weather that limited our access to all but the protected waters of the back bay until weeks end.

As the weather settled I got out for a solo secession [ Sunday]  to find excellent activity with numerous bird plays that contained albies, blues and stripers!!
World class light tackle fishing right off our beaches that folks travel great distances to be part of!!
With the days getting shorter and temps starting to cool off we are finally seeing the first signs of the Fall progression with excellent opportunities for the light tackle enthusiast.
I have Friday 7am-12noon and 1pm -6pm for open or private charters we will be targeting albies, stripers and blues. All bait and tackle, fish cleaning  included – $175.00pp

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Weakfish are the back up when conditions are rough.

Feisty weather has stirred our inlet into a mess but fortunately there has been enough in the safe confines of the bay to allow for continued catching on light tackle . Weakfish have been the main event but a mix of other species joining the line for the “all you can eat shrimp buffet”have included fluke and blues.

Things are shaping up for yet another fantastic fall season along our beaches! The live bait pen is fully stocked and the rods and reels are ready to go for some the most exciting fishing found anywhere!!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Barnegat Bay Grand Slam!! Spanish Mackerel and Albies too!!

Interesting week of light tackle fishing with the back bay still producing weak ranging in sizes well above the minimum  of 13″ with most of the fish continuing to be around 15-18″.  Snapper blues, fluke and seabass are also present and cooperative while employing grass shrimp for both chum and bait.

The Fall’s first Barnegat Bay Grand Slam was scored on the Reel Fantasea by Tony Stanzino catching and scoring weakfish, fluke, bluefish and a striper all on Friday’s 4 hour afternoon outing!
False albacore , Spanish Mackerel and …… [?] have also taken up residence adding for some exciting visual sight casting while employing light spinning tackle! These fish are lightening fast and scream line faster than any fish around the inshore waters! These keen eyed speedsters are challenging and at times frustrating as a combination of presentation , lure selection and retrieve are needed for success.
I have Friday morning and afternoon available for either private or open boat for Friday October 6th.
Wishing everyone fair winds and calm seas,

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Weakfish!!!

With a late summer family getaway to the salty windswept shores of  OBX and a potent tropical conga line that has produced a challenging sea conditions of late it has been quite a while since I have had an opportunity to sit and update any fishing reports.

Today 9/24/17 things have begun to settle down with a calmer and cleaner incoming tide bringing better fishing opportunities for anglers aboard our late week outings.
This summer although the fishing was very solid with multiple species the elusive sea trout aka weakfish was absent through our summer season but just like that things have changed in a blink!
Weakfish running 14-18″ were plentiful and cooperative on live baits on light spinning tackle for our Sunday outing . Even with the forecast continuing to be a bit unsettled the bay and inlet will provide not only cover from rough sea conditions but a solid opportunity to score a mix of bluefish, weakfish, fluke [ catch and release] , striper, black fish, trigger fish………[?]
I have this Friday [ Oct 1st]  available for a morning and afternoon for those looking to mix it up with a host of light tackle cast of characters! Come jump aboard the Reel Fantasea for an early Fall light tackle outing.
Wishing everyone fair winds and calm seas,
Captain Steve Purul
