Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Mack Attack!!

I know it’s been awhile but I’ve had no chance to get caught up with reports as it seems as though I’m on the water more than I’m on dry land!
This summer season continues to offer excellent opportunities for the light tackle enthusiast! Stripers , blues, fluke, Spanish Mackerel and Atlantic bonito have been entertaining and exciting anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea while employing light spinning tackle!
Exciting sight casting to surface breaking southern speedsters [ Macks and bones] has been rewarding in both sport and table fair as both are excellent sashimi ,bbq, ,fried, grilled….
Stripers and blues are still offering excellent sport with most trips seeing 12-20 stripers per trip once techniques are coached, practiced and  executed properly and even a couple still hitting the ice! Blues ranging in size from 1-6lbs also have been testing our tackle and angler skills . Fluke round out the catching but it’s been hard to pull away from all the more exciting action and sport!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Bigger Bass!

The best striped bass catching of the season scored today [ May 1st}  with both quality and quantity!
Artificial lures continue to be our standards aboard the Reel Fantasea as there isn’t  much  more fun than experiencing and detecting  the “hands on feel” of a subtle striper bite all the way to the hook set  and rod bending fun experienced on light tackle!
I’ve been on our local waters for just about a month contemplating relocating to the Raritan bay and it’s epic daily striper action but today calmed any undue worries as we found our selves deep into thick schools stripers through out many locations in the safe confines of Barnegat Bay!
Best catches are made with close attention to technique and instructions with bass ranging in size from 22′ -34″ with the bulk falling somewhere in the middle.
Every year I come across rafts of floating living inflated blow fish at the surface . This year was no exception . I can only surmise these early arrivals are chased to the surface [ predator fish – bass and blues ?] and gulp air to inflate to avoid consumption leaving them haplessly floating at the surface to only have gulls playing tug-a war[?] but who knows . You could do this for 3 lifetimes and still not unlock all the secrets and mysteries.
I have a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning [ private only] and 1 spot for Sunday afternoon available for anyone interested in jumping out for some light tackle fun. Keep in mind we are fishing in the bay and weather is not an issue unless you don’t have rain gear.

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Striped Bass Action continues to improve!!

This weeks striped bass action continued to tick upwards with a nicer volume of both bigger and even keeper bass in the mix enticed mainly via artificial lures on light spinning tackle!
It wasn’t rod bending action from start to finish but when we found ’em it was pretty solid action with multiple bass on at the same time! Saturday’s winds approaching 40kts wasn’t easy by any means but we still managed a few before trips end. Veteran and novice anglers [ 9 years old]  scored stripers with just a few minutes of coaching and tweaking skills and techniques before unleashing them with a party of 4 all scoring their first striper ever!
I will continue to run happy hour special trips 5-8pm dring the week for those looking for a quick jump out on the action. By reservations only.
I have May 5th afternoon and May 6th morning available for anyone interested in bay, inlet or ocean trips.
Wishing everyone fair winds and calm seas,

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Keeper stripers showing up!!

Keeper striped bass! are starting to show up in the mix to add a little more take home value to the light tackle action on hand.  Bluefish shouldn’t be far behind .Presently we are employing all artificials on light spinning tackle for the most excitement and drag burning fun!
Saturday’s forecast has a robust West wind but we are fortunate with the lay of the land locally as this usually really gets the action going [ West is Best!!] and also flattens the ocean waters situated tight to the beach. We will likely be utilizing a combination artificial and fresh chunk baits.

I have a few spots still open for Satuday and Sunday mornings and afternoon. This is the weekend that blows the action wide open!! Don’t read the fishing report , be the fishing report!!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Lots of light tackle bass action!!

The present striped bass population is made up of primarily fish ranging in size from 12 -26″ but are abundant and a flat out blast on light spinning tackle !
With each passing warming day bigger bass and blues should join forces providing exciting opportunities for ligh tackle enthusiast seeking the screaming of the drag!!
I have a few spots open for this week end Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons , weather dependent we may jump outside [ ocean] for a look but for now the back bay is providing a solid amount of action!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Tons of mini bass = fun light tackle action!!

This past weekend’s weather forecast had more bark than bite as rain and wind  didn’t live up to its expected punch. Conditions were much more favorable and so off I went scouting around with the first stop having loads of smaller striped bass waiting for anything to hit the bottom.

The next few stops found much of the same with loads of cooperative mini stripers providing non stop light tackle action and fun! Schools were actually so thick you could see your jig being hit just a few feet below the surface!!

Bigger bass and blues are surely days away if not present already!!
With the weather trending warmer the 2019 fishing season progression is looking great! I still have a few spring and early summer dates available but don’t delay book today!

I have this weekday evenings [5pm -8pm] Happy Hour specials and this Satuday and Sunday [ am – pm]

Wishing everyone fair winds and calm seas,
