Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Light Tackle Striped Bass remains on Fire!! Barnegat Bay Fishing Report 4/9/2017

Most anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea continue to score double digit numbers of striped bass  into the 20’s++  while boat/trip totals continue to flirt with triple digit numbers on a regular basis!! This puts our seasons’s striped bass catch and release total above 650-700 for this young 2017 fishing season!

Light tackle bass ranging in size of 10-20 inches is the norm but larger sizes up to 27″ range have started to make the mix as well. If that doesn’t get your angler juices flowing we have also landed the season’s first fluke and weakfish as well [ pretty sure we are the first charter boat in New Jersey to do this] .
We have been employing a heavy dose of artificial presentations while filling in the gaps with natural as well all on light spinning tackle. This Action is strictly [ for now] a light tackle enthusiast dream with fish on within minutes of leaving the dock which also plays well for the beginner and junior anglers.
With the forecast looking fantastic all week long and temps into the 70’s the action could possibly see more newly and bigger arriving quarry to target.
I will be offering a “Spring Break” happy hour special all week long 430-730pm + – for those looking for a quick fix of “fine time on the brine”!! All bait, tackle, rods, lures….. up to 4 anglers for a private charter is $350.00. Last 3hour angler seen 20+ striped bass catch and release total single handedly!
I also have Friday April 14th morning 630 am-1130 am and afternoon 130 pm – 630 pm available ffor open or private charter.
Wishing everyone fair winds and calm seas,
Captain Steve Purul
