Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters. Barnegat Bay Slams

Barnegat Bay Slams- [ stripers, blues, fluke] ! continue to be very obtainable with the most novice anglers not only scoring them but some of the more veteran anglers scoring multiple slams on the same outing!!

Summer Striped bass continue to be the main interest for our light tackle enthusiasts and their interest have been rewarded with some anglers scoring well into the double digits catches!!

Fluke fishing is non stop with too many fish too count ! When targeting these flatties it’s is actually hard to stay up with baiting and netting at the catch pace we have seen. This is mostly and catch and release due to the high volume of shorts but keepers are hitting the ice as well.

Bluefish have been more hit or miss strangely and are some times the harder part of the Barnegat Bay Slam [ striper, fluke, bluefish] but are running in sizes from 1-4lbs.

Seabass and tog are also readily  available on the inshore wrecks, snags and rocks with more “drop and reel” action.

It’s not too early to start thinking about your Fall Striped bass fishing trip! Don’t delay ! Reserve today!!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Back from OBX

After enjoying quality time with family on the beaches of OBX of North Carolina [our ritual Southern family sojourn] grilling, chilling, beach games and just taking a breather.
Anxious to get back out on my home waters unfortunately this past weeks weather was not  “welcome back home” as I had hoped with thunderstorm threatening each day , robust SE winds and heavy down pours leaving the inshore waters grey, weedy and uninviting and midshore waters BIG!
As this week progressed the weather improved and with a few tide changes cleaning things up we are ready to get back out there!!
Prior to vacation our anglers were scoring a heavy dose of stripers [ 15-22″] , blues – [ 2-5lbs]  and fluke – [ tons of action but you’ll have to weed through a lot of shorts to put some in the cooler]  all while employing light spinning tackle. This is a teaching, coaching and all hands on style of fishing.
I have one spot available for Saturday morning 7am -11am , Saturday afternoon 1230 till [?] and Sunday morning available we’ll be mixing it up between the bay, inlet and surrounding inshore waters .
Inshore sharking is also available during this time of year for those looking for a bit sportier bigger quarry!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Light Tackle Action Remains Hot!!

Anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea continue to score Barnegat Bay Slams mixing it up between all three species – Stripers, blues and fluke on light spinning tackle to maximize their angling fun!

Stripers ranging just under 28″ to as small as mid to upper teens [ inches] have be bending the rods and straining our light tackle drags to the delight of our light tackle enthusiasts.
Bluefish have also been readily available on most tidal stages ranging in size from 2lbs – 10lbs under heavy bird plays. They  have provided exceptional light tackle fun and opportunity for those seeking more drag scorching quarry.
Fluke are also available for those seeking these delicious and delicate gamesters  but seeking cleaner water during certain tidal stages have been the best way to score consistently to avoid peak sea weed and algae flow.
I have  Friday afternoon/evening 5pm-8pm , Saturday and Sunday morning 5am – 10am available for anyone looking to get out on the action!!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Multiple Barnegat Bay Slams !!

Sorry for missing last weeks update but I was enjoying my Father’s Day with family and friends and couldn’t pull my self away. I certainly hope all the dads enjoyed their day as well!

Stripers, Blues and Fluke have been our main targets this week with the closing of seabass season for now. With that being said our anglers have scored all three species [ Barnegat Bay Slam!!] consistently on trips with some of our anglers scoring multiple slams individually !!
Blues have been running into the drag scoring 9-12lbs ranges with most ranging about 3 – 5lbs while our fluke have been scored to 25″ and weighing up to almost 6lbs. Stripers are of the catch and release variety but are fantastically entertaining on light spinning tackle.
Presently I only have next Sunday July 1st available for folks looking for some salty light tackle fun!

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Kicked his a$$ SeaBass !!!

This week we changed gears and started targeting some our local hot spot for some of the best table fare found anywhere in the way of sea bass [ we kicked his a$$ ala’ Jim Carrie] ! Schools of sea bass were found to be so thick [ how thick were they?]  that in depths as deep as 80 feet we had sea bass hitting our baits at depths as shallow as 15 feet below the boat! That’s 65 feet thick of sea bass!!
Keep in mind you needed endurance and persistence to get your limit but most trips earned their fair share of limits and or close to!   Weeding  through border line and shorts wasn’t an easy undertaking with each angler landing and culling through about 60-70 seabass  to their limit.
Inshore continues to offer up action with bluefish, stripers and fluke on the light tackle for those looking for “closer to home” brine time. Employing light spinning tackle tactics continue to provide our best opportunities.

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Bass and Blues!

Anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea continued to find solid light spinning tackle action with striped bass, bluefish  and fluke [ when targeted] . The stripers are ranging from 18-28 +- ” , bluefish have finally showed up in force with the choppers ranging in size from 2-12lbs .Fluke fishing has also provided action when we are able to find cleaner water that isn’t heavily clouded by our annual dose of free flowing algae.

The weekly “happy hour special “5pm-8pm have provided very consistent catches for bass and blues for those looking for some great angling fun.

Reel Fantasea Fishing Charters – Barnegat Bay Fishing Report – Big Bass!!

Anglers aboard the Reel Fantasea continue to score both striped bass and blues whether plying the calm back waters of our bays and inlets or taking to the more open expanses of the Atlantic ocean to target much larger trophy size striped bass!
The bay and inlet has provided solid action with striped bass on light spinning tackle while employing various artificial presentations with bluefish and fluke spicing the catches as well.
Albeit Friday afternoon’s robust SSW winds created a frigid cold water upwelling inshore that saw incoming tide temps dip as low as 46 degrees putting the fish off the bite around the flood tidal stage but with predicted NE winds on their way this should rectify with in a few tide changes.
With schools of bunker being a bit scattered  for the snag and drop technique ,  employing the most reliable trolling time tested Tony Maja Spoons #4  and Magic Mojo tandem rigs have produced our bigger striped bass in the deeper local waters. White and chartreuse spoons and mojos have been our most productive colors with some bass approaching 40lbs!
I do have a few “Happy Hour” [ 5pm-8pm]  specials available this week targeting striped bass and blues locally. We have been catching regularly within minutes of the dock!
